Wedding Card

Just a card I thought turned out cute. Gave it to a friend at her bridal shower. The "wedding" part was from DCWV White Embossed Paper Stack. I rubbed on light blue chalk (Inkadoo Bright Bolds Blending Chalks) to make the upraised letters stand out more. Flowers: Blue Jeweled Flowers from Stickopotamus. For the glitter strip I used 1/4 in. double sided tape, and the Crystal Fine glitter from Martha Stewart's crafts. I'm not sure what the other papers come from, just scraps I had.

Catching up

Okay, its been a really long time since I posted. Maybe someday I'll be consistent with this blog. Last April I bought a Cricut Expressions, and a few months after that I purchased Sure Cuts A Lot. With these two great additions my cards and crafting have been some much more fun!

January/February

I've been slacking lately so I'll be showing more than one card. January's card swap was "Sympathy".

February was "Valentine/Love/Wedding/Anniversary". Lots of choices there. I went with "Love" because I had just gotten these awesome butterfly paper punches, and the phrase "Love is in the air" kept coming to me. I had so much fun with that one!

That last one I did for my sis-in-law whose birthday was this month. Here's a link for where I got the idea.

Random Cards

Well, I got a chance to make some more cards before the next card swap. In my ward's Relief Society they were putting together some 'Christmas Baskets' for some of the more needy families and widows. I was asked to make some cards of various subjects to put in one of these baskets."Wish You Well" - get well
"Hey There" - thinking of you"Happy Birthday"

Card Swap

At my church, us sisters get together once a month to do a card swap. A theme is chosen in advance, and then we make enough cards to share with everyone (10-15 usually). This December was my first time going, and I enjoyed it so much! By swapping cards, I get new ideas, which is the a big factor of the activity. It's also fun just to sit and chat with the girls! This month's theme was - of course - Christmas or Happy Holidays
Since it was my first time I'm not real sure, but I think at each meeting, who ever hosts shares some small craft. This month we learned how to make a cute 'box'. Mine here is just plain cardstock. But for the example, she used a two-sided cardstock, so there was a different design on the inside vs. outside.

My Start

I love making crafts. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, and my own very crafty mother has introduced me to many different kinds of arts and crafts while growing up. Just this past year I took up scrapbooking, which I love! But it wasn't until recently that I tried making cards. It actually started with a request to make invitations for my sister-in-law's baby shower. So for my first entry, I thought I'd post pictures of my first attempts.

And the winner is...

The reason I did more than one card, was so to give my sis a choice. This was the one she liked the best. As I said this was a first attempt. The final one had a different - but similar - pink ribbon, and the baby face stamp was later changed to pink.
